Shoulder Training Your Lovebird

Before you shoulder-train your lovebird, you must get to know your lovebird and finger-tame your lovebird first.

Due to the danger to your face and eyes, it is often not safe to allow some of the larger parrots on your shoulder, but Lovebirds are small enough that they can not do a lot of damage, even if they do decide to bite.

Many Lovebirds will automatically run from your finger, up your arm, right to your shoulder, as if they have always sat there. If your bird does this, you now have your hands free as you walk around your home.

Other Lovebirds may need to be placed there the first time before realizing that they now have an easy way of getting around the house.

If you decide that a shoulder-riding Lovebird is what you want, you must be careful of jewellery that you might be wearing. The shiny earrings and necklace might be toxic to your bird and/or might be broken by your bird.

Another danger to a shoulder-riding lovebird is that you might forget that he is there. Any time that you go to the door when someone knocks, you must stop and check to see if your bird is on your shoulder. If you are going to the kitchen to make a meal involving a hot burner, hot oven or boiling water, you must stop and check to see if your bird is on your shoulder. Lovebirds are very light-weight and if they are quiet, it is very easy to forget you have one on your shoulder.

My Baby Lovebirds

So, recently, I got two baby peach-faced lovebirds. They're nearly a month old now. Their names are 'Peace' and 'Rain'. 'Peace' is for the female and 'Rain' is for the male. I got them from my uncle, he has a lot of birds, especially lovebirds. Not only he gave two lovebirds, but he also gave a bunch of other lovebirds and a pair of cockatiels! But, they're wild, of course. Cuz they're not hand-fed. I'm thinking of training them, one day, especially the cockatiels. I'm putting some pictures of Peace and Rain below. Of course, they're not weaned yet.

Flood at my house

There was flood at my house! It happened on 4th of November (2010). This is the first time there was a big flood like this in my neighbourhood. Thank goodness my house is a traditional Malay house, so there are not many important things that were damaged. The worst part is, there were no pipe water and electricity! We moved to Penang, all because of my little brother who couldn't stand without electricity.

Here are some pics I took during the flood:

New song by Katy Perry!

There's a new song by Katy Perry, and it's called 'Fireworks'. That song was published on Youtube the same day I had my birthday party! OMG! The song is really awesome, and Katy Perry looks very pretty in the video. :) Below is the music video of the song.

Katy Perry - Firework

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards, one blow from caving in

Do you ever feel already buried deep
Six feet under screams but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a spark in you

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

'Cause baby, you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, oh
As you shoot across the sky

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, oh
You're gonna leave 'em falling down

You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow

Maybe you're reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow
And when it's time, you'll know

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, oh
As you shoot across the sky

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, oh
You're gonna leave 'em falling down

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It's always been inside of you, you, you
And now it's time to let it through

'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, oh
As you shoot across the sky

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, oh
You're gonna leave 'em falling down

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
